The drinking-and-reading itinerary for the Downtown Poet Walk
Founded and conceived by Ed Rosenthal, Poet-Broker

February 8, 2007

(Convene at Lost Souls Cafe in the alley on 4th Street between Spring and Los Angeles Streets)

"Drinks" poured by the lovely Miss Teka-Lark Lo. "Security" provided by the street-smart Randall.

Readers will get inaugural shot glasses that say, "I got drunk with Teka" or if I can't get that together I'll go to this store that's closing to get on the cheap and they'll say "I'm proud to be Pinoy." Either way there will be mementoes.

And be sure to tape some bail money to your ankle, because even if you don't need it to get out of jail you might have to get a taxi.

Read, listen, your own work, someone else's work, with eight venues everyone's getting their own little mini feature and that'll look
fab on your poetryland resume.

Lost Souls Café, 124 W 4th St.

6:30-7:00pm
For snacks and poetry starts. It's an awesome and after work you
need some pastries and sandwiches.
Green Schnapps, in honor of Lord Byron I can't get real absinthe and
then advertise that on a listserve, that's kind of stupid.

Miss Lo LA Poetry Princess (because a diva is way too labor-intensive)

Don't see your gallery, store or bookstore? Want to participate next time drop me and Ed an email? larklo@pacbell.net

Q Miss Lo, parking is a pain in the butt down there, where should I
park?

A If I were you, I'd bus it, you go on and on about Iraq and how its
so unfair, if you didn't drive people wouldn't be dying, but you
know your sticker is probably good enough and you don't eat beef. If
you must drive park at 4th and Main, right across the street from
Pete's there is a gigantic parking lot (it's on 4th, on the left
side of the street; it's a one-way street so if it's on your right,
you must have started drinking before you got there, so you're on
your own), it costs between $5-$8; there may be street parking
but that's a good bet if you don't care so much about costs.

Q Miss Lo, I want to take the bus, but how do I do it?
A Ok if you take the Red Line get off at Pershing Square, when you
get off the train go towards the sign that says "to 5th" you'll be
at 5th and Hill or 5th and Olive go up Hill or Olive going North (if
you're going south you'll see 6th street, so you'll know pretty
quick that you guessed wrong) then when you get to 4th make a
right, less than .03 miles away, so no, its too far…and it runs
until 12:00am.—remember you're going to 124 W 4th St.; it's at MAIN

Q Miss Lo, how do I get to the Red Line and what is the Red Line?
A The Red Line is Los Angeles' version of a subway: it doesn't actually go anywhere, but you know it goes lots of places in Teka's world. The fact that it doesn't go to Santa Monica doesn't make me lose much sleep.

Your other problem? Well, here's a link to the Metro, it is like Yahoo driving directions for your legs.

Q Don't they need reservations at Pete's? Should I RSVP? Maybe I
can't make it to the reading, but I'd like to eat later at Pete's.

A You don't always need a reservation, but it would be cool if you let me know you're coming so I can make reservations for the proper amount of people.

Q How far will we have to walk?
A Total walk is .06 miles roundtrip, with lots of sitting and breaks along the way, a pack a day smoker could do it with ease.

"P.S.A: Get outta yer car, ya Los AngeleSLOBS. The width of Manhattan, at its widest point, is only slightly less wider than any given motor-vehicle-addicted eLAy arse, and the city ("Manhattan" to you provincialites what think L.A is a city) and yet far less in breadth than any of the other four boros, and yet I walked all over at least three of those boros, for a number of years, on a daily basis. Why fer two bits I'd—!"

We at BrickBat Revue do pardon the above brutish intrusion, and we do hope that you have not been inconvenienced by the drunken slob whose obnoxious words broke into our studio.

We now return to our regularly scheduled Web-cast.
